Petoi Bittle — a budget walking robot dog kit (~$349)
Want legs without four figures? Petoi Bittle is a palm-sized, agile walking robot dog you build and program yourself. It is Arduino- and Python-programmable with community ROS packages, making it a superb STEM and maker project at about $349 — cheaper than Loona. The catch is that it is a robotics kit, not a plug-and-play AI companion: there is no conversational AI and it expects you to enjoy tinkering.

Loona is dog-flavored; if you are a cat person, the Elephant Robotics MarsCat is the alternative to know.
