Boston Dynamics Atlas
The most capable industrial humanoid — 56 DOF, 50 kg lift, in production
The world's most advanced humanoid and legged robots
Boston Dynamics was founded in 1992 as a spin-off from MIT, and has spent over three decades defining the state of the art in dynamic robotics. From the early BigDog military platform to the iconic Spot quadruped and now the Atlas humanoid, Boston Dynamics has consistently pushed the boundaries of what robots can physically do. Acquired by Hyundai in 2021 for $1.1 billion, the company is transitioning from a research organisation into a commercial enterprise. Atlas, now fully electric, can run, jump, perform backflips, and manipulate objects in unstructured environments with a capability gap no other humanoid has yet closed. Spot is already commercially available for industrial inspection — Atlas is expected to follow as the technology matures.
