1X Technologies NEO Beta
OpenAI-backed humanoid built for safety-first home and work environments
OpenAI-backed humanoids designed to live and work safely alongside humans
1X Technologies (formerly Halodi Robotics) was founded in 2014 in Oslo, Norway, and is the first non-US humanoid company to attract OpenAI investment. The company builds humanoids around a single guiding principle: robots must be safe enough to live and work in human spaces without causing injury. This led to a gear-free cable-driven actuator design that eliminates crushing risk — unlike any other humanoid on the market. The NEO Beta, at just 30 kg, is the lightest full-size humanoid available. 1X's OpenAI-backed AI stack enables whole-body imitation learning from human demonstrations. The company also makes EVE, a wheeled domestic robot already deployed in US security guarding. Together, NEO and EVE share an AI platform designed for real home and workplace use.
